Join us
End Suffering is a small organization, but the work it supports spans every part of the broader effort to understand and reduce suffering at its biological source. We are interested in hearing from anyone whose work bears on that goal, and from anyone who wants it to.
We need:
- Scientists and researchers to advance our understanding of suffering at the genetic, neural, and behavioral level.
- Bioengineers and technologists to turn that understanding into actual interventions in actual nervous systems.
- Ethicists and philosophers to keep the moral landscape in view as the science moves.
- Philanthropists and funders to support work that others won't.
- Advocates and communicators to translate this into a movement broader than any single organization.

Apply for funding
We are always looking for people and projects worth backing. We look for work that is:
- Tractable There is a clear path from the work to a better world, whether through analysis, advocacy, innovation, or some other concrete method.
- Neglected Few other funders are addressing the problem, or the approach you are taking to it.
- Scalable If it works, its impact can be replicated at scale.
- Well-defined You can clearly say what success looks like and what you'll specifically do to achieve it.
If you have a project that fits these criteria, send an email to apply@endsuffering.org with the following:
- A brief description of your project, including its goals and methods.
- The amount of funding you are seeking and how you plan to use it.
- Information about you and your organization, including key team members.
- A rough timeline, including any key milestones and an expected completion date.
A note on length
There is no need to be painstaking about this. Putting together an application should take no more than half an hour. If we want more detail, we will ask.
Even if we can't fund your project ourselves, we'll try to connect you with other potential funders, and with similar projects you might be able to collaborate with.
